Initiation of the “Arts Tree” Project
On July 15th 2019, the “Arts Tree” project has been officially unveiled at the Peace Hotel. This project is jointly organized by the Publicity Department of Huangpu District Committee and Shanghai Grand Theatre Art Group (SGTAG) and is sponsored by the SAIC Group. Haihong Yu, the publicity minister of the Huangpu District, noted that “Huangpu District and SGT ARTS GROUPSGTAG have conducted excellent cooperation in order to promote a great brand of Shanghai culture and develop a world of performing arts. Arts Tree is another project of cultural communication and art popularization by both sides after the Sinan Appreciation Society. It also proves that both sides have found more possibilities in the creation of a charitable cultural brand.” Ming Zhang, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of SGT ARTS GROUP pointed out that the project will highlight the Chinese national arts and target the mass population that is lacking in art literacy. It is designed to effectively develop a healthy, tasteful, and elegant lifestyle among citizens for at least three to five years.
Art makes life better
This project is named after an old Chinese saying, “It takes ten years to grow a tree but a hundred years to educate a person.” As a new brand of charitable culture that disseminates excellent traditional culture, Arts Tree follows the concept of “Art Makes Life Better” and is committed to popularizing a variety of Chinese national arts.
Refined art can be close to life
The first campaign of the Arts Tree project in 2019 will start with the guqin, a seven-stringed Chinese zither. From August to November, guqin maestros from various schools in Shanghai will carry out exchanges and perform with masters in the fields of poetry, traditional Chinese painting, teaism, and Kunqu. The guqin-themed lectures, appreciation salon, experience classes, and workshops will be launched among workers in areas of manufacturing, medicine, media, environmental protection, logistics, and construction, etc. to convey the beauty of arts. As the finale, a spectacular event of one hundred people playing guqin together will be held on the plaza of the Shanghai Grand Theatre in late November.
Solicit your story of guqin across Shanghai City
Meanwhile, the project is also soliciting stories about guqin from citizens in Shanghai. From today to November 30, 2019, guqin fans are welcomed to send their essays, photos, hand-drawn cartoons, short videos, and other forms of works on the theme of “guqin and me” to info@sgtartsgroup. Winners will have the opportunity to get guqin training or participate in related activities. For details, please follow the WeChat official accounts of Shanghai Huangpu District and SGT ARTS GROUP.
